Application of decals

General advice

  • Use a knife to lift the decals off from the backing paper.
  • Clean iPod's surface with a dry cloth before applying the decals.
  • Avoid touching the adhesive surface. Hold the sticker on the edges with one hand and press it on with the other hand.
  • Apply the sticker with pressure and use a cloth to press it on.
  • Rub the sticker on little by little, not with bold strokes.

Transparent stickers

If you bought a sticker from the Black Edition, or from the Super Edition, this is what to note:

  • Unlike the vinyl material used for the other editions, transparent stickers are not air-permeable. This means that bubble-free application is a bit more difficult to achieve. To avoid bubbles, apply the sticker with little, stepwise strokes, from one end to the other. Take a look at this photo to see what the result looks like.
  • It will take a while for the sticker to attach completely. The reflections/texture, which you might see right after application, will smooth out. After a few hours, you can see a difference, and again after a week or so, as the sticker will attach more closely to the surface over time.

Apply decals onto iPod shuffle 2nd Gen.

  • On the frontside, place the decal on the button first, and then press on toward the sides.
  • When attaching iPod shuffle inclusive decals to the iPod shuffle dock, do it with care, since this might cause friction.

Application of decals

Keeping the order suggested here will make it easier to match the decals on the caps with the decals on the iPod shuffle body. Open this image for a look at the decals.

  1. Frontside: Align exactly at the bottom border of the iPod shuffle body. Leave a little margin to the left and right. Then roll up toward the button.
  2. Backside:  Apply from the bottom first; align exactly at the border. Leave a little margin toward the sides.
  3. iPod shuffle side:  Start by aligning from the middle, i.e. from the headphone jack.
  4. USB cap frontside and backside: Connect the USB cap to the iPod shuffle. Then start by aligning exactly at the top border of the cap. Leave a little margin to the left and right.
  5. USB cap side: Start by aligning exactly at one of the top borders. Leave a little margin to the left and right.
  6. USB lanyard cap: Again, align exactly at one of the top borders and then press on toward the other end.
  7. USB lanyard sides: Connect the USB cap to the iPod shuffle. Align exactly at the top border and leave a little margin to the left and right.
